Just like everyone else, low-income families need quality internet devices and service plans, especially when so much of our lives is done online these days. We did some research on your behalf and put together the following guide to help you find where affordable equipment, virtual child care options, and free Wi-Fi in the beautiful city of Reno, Nevada:

Discounted Distance Learning Devices in Reno

  • Reno Cigar Lions Club: The Reno Cigar Lions Club is a local organization dedicated to the future success of children in the community. The Computers 4 Kids program, gives away free Linux-based PCs to K-12 students in need. They typically respond to requests within 48 hours. 
  • Washoe County School District: In partnership with the Education Alliance, Washoe County School District is providing free laptops to students to assist in learning from home. Contact your local Washoe County school directly via email or phone for more information.
  • ComputerCorps: ComputerCorps refurbishes computers and other equipment and distributes them to low-income families in the Reno area. In order to receive a device, families must receive a reference from an education facility, religious organization or human resources agency, educator, or counselor. They usually have plenty of great computers for less than $100.
