Cablelynx was founded in 2001 in Longview, Texas. It has since expanded to include 17 systems, under many different local names, and throughout four states. By 2009, Cablelynx served over 37,000 subscribers across those states.
Cablelynx is owned by WEHCO Media, a privately owned diversified communications company whose roots stretch back to 1909.
Cablelynx provides not only Internet and Cable Television but also Digital Phone service, which, like Cablelynx Internet, relies upon existing cable lines. Digital phone is sometimes known as Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP.
Services And Pricing
Cablelynx offers two Internet options. Standard delivers download speeds of up to 12 Megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds up to 512 Kbps. When bundled with standard cable from Cablelynx, this Internet plan costs $39.95/month; without Internet, it costs $49.95.
Enhanced promises download speeds as fast as 16 Mbps, with 2 Mbps upload speeds. Enhanced costs $74.95/month for users who bundle Internet with cable television, and costs $84.95 for those customers who do not have cable.
Cablelynx includes a We Make House calls guarantee for service calls, standard with any residential Internet package. Cablelynx stresses the benefits of their local, personal service, promising their availability is 24/7/365.
Cablelynx also provides Internet to businesses, offering the same two speeds, but fitted to bear a heavier traffic load. Furthermore, business Internet provides domain name hosting and one static IP address, in addition to the same service guarantee. Standard business Internet costs $99.95/month or $89.95/month with a 12-month agreement. Enhanced business Internet with speeds up to 16 Mbps costs $159.95/month or $149.95/month with a year agreement.
According to Net Index, a third-party ISP evaluator, Cablelynx is Texas' 20th fastest Internet provider, delivering an average download speed of 10.81 Mbps. Net Index sampled data from 9,814 total IP addresses, and digitally surveyed 1,572 customers, who gave Cablelynx an average 2.5 of five stars for customer satisfaction.
Cablelynx is the 10th fastest ISP in Arkansas, though it delivers roughly the same average speed. In Oklahoma, Cablelynx was the 8th fastest ISP with a considerably slower average speed of 8.55 Mbps.
Finally, Cablelynx came in 9th in Mississippi, delivering 10.44 Mbps download. In every state, customers gave Cablelynx a 2.5 out of 5 rating. No concrete evidence of customer satisfaction exists, but several reviews on DSLreports.com suggest that Cablelynx service is spotty in the mid-term, and customers experience periods of terrific connectivity and reliable service, followed by periods of sub-par service.
