WOW! (formerly WideOpenWest) was founded in 1996 as a Cable TV service provider for Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Today, they provide digital TV, Internet and phone services.The company has its headquarters in Denver, CO, and is owned by Avista Capital Partners.

There are two channel lineup options for Cable and Digital TV:

  • Basic Cable Package: At $68/month, the basic package includes 65 HD channels, 75 broadcast channels and 85 channels of Video on Demand, Pay-Per-View and music.
  • Signature Cable: At $88/month, the signature package includes 90 HD channels, 130 broadcast channels, 13 Starz and Encore movie channels, and 85 channels of VOD, PPV and music.

Ultra TV includes more functions than just the TV. It also integrates your computer and other functions for a complete home entertainment system. You can look at Flickr photos, play 12 different games through the Ultra Arcade and get caller ID on the TV with 12 games.

The company’s crown jewel for TV service is the Whole-Home DVR with Ultra TV, which is like a regular DVR on steroids, since it also connects computers via a wireless home network. The Whole-Home DVR canconnect up to five TVs, and lets customers watch a recording on any of them. It also includes a 500 GB hard drive good for recording up to six shows at once. You can schedule recordings from your computer or smartphone, and even send your content (photos, movies and music) to your TV. It also has a customizable ticker to add while watching shows.

  • 2 Mbps download/1 Mbps upload for $40
  • 15 Mbps download/1 Mbps upload for $50
  • 30 Mbps download/3 Mbps upload for $70
  • 50 Mbps download/5 Mbps upload for $90

Features included with Internet packages:

  • Five email accounts
  • Wow Security from F-Secure is included with the 30 Mbps and 50 Mbps packages, and contains a firewall, virus protection, spam filter and parental controls.
  • Variety Pak provides access to a variety of sites including Fox Sports, Encyclopedia Britannica, and It’s a $70-a-month value priced at $7.99 a month.
  • Wow! Music is an online music library of seven million songs and various radio stations, with streaming abilities to three different computers. The service for streaming is $9/month, and burning to a CD costs 99 cents a track.

There are two voice plans available: Essential and Advanced. Essential Phone includes unlimited local calling with various features like 3-way calling, caller ID and call forwarding. Advanced Phone features everything from the Essential plan, plus voicemail and unlimited national calling. Customers can go to the online communications hub to listen to voicemails via email, delete calls and set up features and preferences.

Bundles for two or three services are available with no contracts, money-back guarantees and next-day installation.

Business Solutions

Wow! has been servicing small, medium and enterprise businesses since 2000. They offer plans similar to the residential services, as well as Internet with a 10 Gbps fiber optic connection, three different web hosting options, fax to email service and a private point-to-point Ethernet connection.
