Cincinnati Internet Resources for Low-Income Families

Many families in the Cincinnati area experience disenfranchisement due to the digital divide. Lack of access to digital resources can leave low-income families without the means to engage in work and school, thus setting them back from others. We assembled this list of digital resources to help these families get what they need to bridge the digital divide:

Discounted Distance Learning Devices in Cincinnati

  • Cincinnati Public Schools: Cincinnati Public Schools operates a 1-to-1 laptop program for students in grades 4 through 12. For children in 2nd and 3rd grade, the school provides a shared laptop cart during school hours.
  • PCs for People: PCs for People is an organization dedicated to providing low-income families who meet income eligibility requirements with low-cost computers via their online store. They also operate giveaways on occasion and have an in-person store, if you’re ever near the Cleveland area.
  • Cincinnati Computer Cooperative: The Cincinnati Computer Cooperative (CCC) accepts high-quality desktop computer and laptop donations from businesses, refurbishes them, and redistributes them to the community. As a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher, the CCC discounts devices for low-income families through their Computer 4 Home program. All you have to do is fill out the form, supply eligibility documentation and pay as little as $150.

Several stores in Cincinnati also offer refurbished computers for sale. These recycled devices come at a much lower price than new computers and work just as well. The small businesses below are just some of the Cincinnati stores that offer used devices for sale:
